We share the same planet. We share in a commitment to take care of our planet. If we share in a process, we can all make a difference.
If you have Steelcase furniture that you no longer want or need, we can help you find an environmentally responsible solution - rather than send it unused into landfills. Through the Steelcase Environmental Partnership Program, we can link you to one of these greener alternatives, depending on the type, quantity and condition of the furniture you have.
Recycling and/or Reselling
Whether you recycle or resell, you’ll be helping the environment and saving yourself the cost of landfill disposal fees. If you have more than 50 furniture items (workstations, chairs, files, etc.) that you no longer need, contact us to explore this option.
Refurbishing
Refurbishing and adding new components to a Steelcase workstation can significantly extend your furniture investment, helping you get additional use out of it while helping the environment too. Reusing existing furniture in your project can also help earn one credit towards LEED CI certification. Contact
Corporate Interiors about ways to bring new life to your existing furniture.
Donating
If you have less than 50 items of furniture (workstations, chairs, files, etc.) that you no longer need and you want to keep it out of a landfill, you can donate to a non-profit organization that has an established program for accepting office furniture.
The Steelcase Environmental Partnership Program, launched in 2004, is a program to help businesses with end-of-life furniture strategies. By facilitating refurbishing, reselling, donating,
or recycling, this program helpsour customers fully leverage their furniture assets to the greater benefit of society, the planet, and their own bottom line. This effort has extended the useful life of thousands of furniture products and millions of pounds of raw materials, and has dramatically reduced the amount of waste dumped to landfills. Most importantly, this program has enabled thousands of people and communities in need around the world to develop hardworking environments while focusing their limited capital where it’s needed most.
Steelcase has partnered with IRN The Recycling Network (IRN) to help companies match previously owned office furniture with non-profit and charitable organizations around the globe. With a global reach, from U.S. cities devastated by natural disasters to countries desperately trying to rebuild their infrastructures, the Furniture Reuse program provides significant benefits to both recipients and donors – from local non-profits to major countries. Integrated Bottom Line Results Arranging for the reuse of your furniture through this program has true, integrated bottom line impact:
Economic
+ The same or less cost than other disposal arrangements
+ The same or less effort than other disposal arrangements
Environmental
+ Less waste creation means less landfill expansion
+ Re-use of products extends their useful life and reduces demand for raw materials
Social
+ Furniture and materials assist organizations and countries in need
+ Reused furnishings help some of the most needy communities and individuals around the globe
How Furniture Reuse works
The Furniture Reuse Program is simple and straightforward:
1. with you to assess and
inventory furniture you have available for reuse. In addition to furniture, we can help
place other fixed assets such as doors, windows, ceiling tiles, and more.
2. IRN prepares a not-to-exceed cost estimate to disassemble and remove the furniture
and other inventory, and load it into provided containers for shipping.
3. Your assets are then shipped to the appropriate location and organization for reuse.
4. Once delivered, you will receive a documentation package that includes all of the
information and metrics related to your donation.
